Actually, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two students doing PhD at Stanford University of America, together created this search engine. Both of them started Google on 4 September 1998. When the search engine was created, it was named BackRub. But when it came to registering the company, both of them decided that they would register the company with the name GOOGOL.
GOOGOL is a term of mathematics that means 1 and 00 i.e. 100. However due to a mistake in spelling while registering, its name became Google instead of GOOGOL. It was very easy to speak and write Google words. That’s why it reached people’s lips very easily.
